Holland

is ranked 17th in the world for the quality of its health services.

As of January 1, 2006, Holland put in place a new health care insurance system that requires citizens to purchase health insurance if they are living or paying income tax in Holland. This system covers most basic requirements and health insurance companies are obligated to accept all applicants.

Citizens can decide to purchase additional insurance for circumstances not included in the basic package. However, in this case insurance companies can reject your application and have the right to determine the price. Many Hollanders opt to purchase a collective health insurance policy, as this can be a good option and is often cheaper than
company programs.
