In this edition of The Healthy Ticket, we travel to Holland.

The country of Holland is in Western Europe, bordering the North Sea between Belgium and Germany. It’s often spoken of synonymously with “The Netherlands,” but the two are very much different.

Holland, which was halved into the Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland in 1840 for political power reasons, is merely 2 of The Netherlands’ 12 provinces, making up about 13 percent of it.

But what this little gem lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in culture and other beautiful sights. It has the highest museum density in the world — with almost 1,000 museums — and one of the largest Van Gogh collections in the world. Thousands of windmills dot its landscape. And the main cities of Amsterdam, its capital city, Rotterdam and The Hague are the cultural and entertainment hubs of this great province.

One of the most interesting facts about Holland is how green it is. There are around 16 million bicycles here, which averages out to about one for every citizen.
